A New MCJ Collective
The phenomena of our changing climate are often referred to as the climate crisis. And rightfully so. The damage that awaits us all from a humanitarian and biodiversity perspective should carbon emissions remain unchecked is an extreme crisis of our own very human doing.
And yet, every day this unfolding crisis becomes slightly less unchecked. The collective action of individuals motivated to change the status quo and rebuild the systems that power human society is gaining daily momentum. We see this every day at MCJ Collective. Whether via new members activating into the community, existing members inspiring one another with new ideas, innovators unlocking new ways of doing hard things or new podcast listeners being inspired into action by a guest…being part of MCJ helps us find optimism for the future in one another.
And with that, we’re happy to unveil a new look and a new voice for MCJ Collective. What started as Jason’s personal climate journey has become all of our climate journeys — a true collective of people motivated to learn from one another and act together to help us not only avert crises but dare to believe that an even better future is still possible.
The MCJ Collective design and identity has been developed by Lara and Alfredo Weeks of Fringe22 — a design and creative strategy studio focused on social impact projects — with significant input from the MCJ member community at large. The MCJ brand strategy is called “collective emissions” and is meant to evoke feelings of soothing, conceptuality, and humbleness — a testament to the collective spirit of MCJ community’s sense of pragmatic optimism, inclination to problem solve, and sense of curiosity — while also acknowledging the blurred relationship between that and our own historical collective emissions that are the root cause of climate change.

Signifying the blurring realities between our collective historical output and our collective problem solving capacity
The new narrative voice of MCJ Collective has been crafted by Kristen and Merrill at The Regenerates. This dynamic team of climate-focused brand strategists originally met in the MCJ Member community and have become key contributors in helping climate-focused organizations figure out how to articulate what makes them each unique. For MCJ Collective’s voice, we’re hoping to authentically represent MCJ as an entrepreneurial commons where learning about and exploring climate solutions can be a little bit fun — and a whole lot more effective — when done together. Our guiding belief is that we all have a responsibility to step up and do something about the climate crisis, and that MCJ powers collective innovation for climate solutions by breaking down silos and unleashing problem-solving capacity. We certainly hope — and are optimistic — that we all will continue to live up to this mandate.
Finally, thank you to the many in the MCJ Member community who provided feedback on the brand elements and voice as they’ve been in development over the last few months. Just as you’ve provided feedback on the climate narratives that need to be told and the climate ideas that need to be pursued, your guidance on how MCJ should present itself to the world reflects how much we all care about our ability to do this together. We are so grateful to be part of this journey with all of you.
